Car accident Killed 6 Teenagers and several others injured
Monday, February 27, 2006Six teenagers were killed in a horrific road accident near Mildura in north-western Victoria, Australia late at night on February 18.
Cassandra Manners, aged 16, Stevie-Lee Weight, 15, Cory Dowling, 16, Shane Hirst, 16, and his sister, Abby Hirst, 17, died at the scene. Josephine Calvi, 16, was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she later died of head injuries. Seven other teenagers were injured, including 15-year-old Marco Medici who is now in a stable but critical condition in The Alfred Hospital in w:Melbourne.
The accident occurred after the teenagers left a 16th birthday party and walked along Myall Road, Cardross, south-east of Mildura. A car allegedly came speeding around a bend, hit the gravel on the side of the road, lost control and struck the group. The alleged driver, later identified as 34-year-old Thomas Graham Towle, fled the scene on foot, leaving his 10-year-old daughter and four-year-old son in the car. Towle was later arrested by police in Redcliffs. He was taken to Mildura police station for questioning.
Towle has been charged with six charges of culpable driving causing death, four charges of negligently causing serious injury, one charge of failing to stop and one charge of failing to render assistance after an accident. Towle faced Mildura Magistrates' Court on February 20. Magistrate John Dugdale remanded him into custody to reappear before the court on June 26.
Meanwhile, the town of Mildura and surrounding areas is in deep mourning. Premier Steve Bracks said the State Government will provide $AU40,000 for counselling and support services.
Around 3,000 people attended the funeral for Josephine Calvi today. Funeral services for the other five teenagers were held last week.

Get Insurance now.
If you are a young driver or if you are a parent trying to help your child find good auto insurance, then you know how expensive it can be. Younger drivers are statistically more likely to be involved in a collision especially young male drivers who, generally speaking, tend to be more reckless and aggressive. Insurance companies are in business to make money and because the data shows that younger drivers are more of a financial risk, the insurance companies are going to charge higher premium prices. This article is going to give you some money-saving tips by telling you about some discounts that you could get and by telling you how to find the best possible price when shopping for car insurance for young people.Every insurance company will offer certain discounts for different things. Not all insurance companies are the same but it is certainly worth asking your insurance agent about any possible discounts. If a young driver is on the same insurance policy as their parents and their parents have a clean driving record and low rates it will be cheaper than a young driver getting their own policy. If you are a student and you maintain a good grade point average many insurance companies will offer discounts on your car insurance. The reasoning behind this is that they assume that a student that gets good grades is more responsible and therefore less likely to cause an accident. It's also possible to get discounts with some companies if you complete a certified driving instruction course. If you can show proof that you've completed a course which teaches you to drive safely and defensively, it could save you some money. A lot of companies will also offer lower rates to people who do not do very much driving. The cut off may vary from one company to another but it if you tell your insurance company that you will drive less than a certain amount then you would also be less at risk of being involved in a collision and therefore entitled to lower premiums.
When trying to find the most affordable price on car insurance for young people it's important to shop around. The cheapest company for one person is not necessarily the cheapest company for someone else. Each company has their own criteria that they use and certain demographics that they are trying to target. The best way to get an idea of what you may have to pay for insurance and also make sure that you're getting the best possible price is to go online and get multiple insurance quotes from a number of different providers. There are many websites available where you can enter some information and answer a few questions and with the click of a button get multiple quotes without having to visit multiple websites. It's quick and painless to get a number of quotes all from one website and this allows you to easily find a company that offers the coverage you are looking for at the most affordable price.

Alcohol found on Fla. boat that crashed, killing 5
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Alcohol was found on the power boat that plowed into a tug boat and barge in north Florida, killing five people and injuring nine others, investigators said Tuesday.Capt. Gregg Eason of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission verified alcohol was aboard the 22-foot boat. But Eason, speaking at a news conference Tuesday afternoon, wouldn't say what kind of alcohol was found or whether the vessel's operator had been drinking. Toxicology reports are still pending.
"We don't know who was drinking and who was not drinking," Eason said.
The boat smashed into the rear of the docked 25-foot tug Sunday in the Intracoastal Waterway near Palm Valley, about 25 miles southeast of Jacksonville. No one was aboard the tug.
On Tuesday, the power boat was being removed to a secure location so it can be examined for evidence, Eason said. Severe weather prevented investigators from working outside any sooner.
Authorities are still trying to determine how fast the boat was going, why 14 people were aboard and whether the passengers wore life vests.
"What we want to do is reconstruct the accident. What occurred prior to the accident. What occurred during the accident," Eason said.
He noted the barge and tug boat being used to build a pier at a new home were properly moored and were not obstructing the channel.
Witnesses, including some of those still recovering in hospitals, will be interviewed once doctors clear them to speak, said Debbie Hersman, an investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board.
The five killed all died at the scene. They were Jacqueline R. Allen, 44, of Jacksonville; Robert Trenton Craig, 23, of Jacksonville Beach; Elizabeth L. Rosenfeld, 20, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; Inmaculada Pierce, 42, of Orange Park, Fla.; and Olivia Rose Carretero, 23, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Investigators said it could take up to a year to complete their investigation.

At 160 meters high in a tropical gorge with the Bhote Kosi, one of the world's wildest rivers, raging below, Bungy Nepal is Nepal's Ultimate Rush and one of the longest free-falls in the world.Bungy Nepal takes place on a 166 meter wide steel suspension bridge. Swiss designed specially for bungy jumping with a 4x safety factor, the bridge has a loading factor of 250 kg per running meter.
Swiss designed, specially for bungy jumping with a 4x safety factor. The bridge has a loading factor of 250kg per running meter. This means that the bridge will hold 250 x 166 = 41,500kg or 4.5 tones. And... those are Swiss measurements! * Over 6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge * Longest suspension bridge in Nepal * The bridge joins two sides of a great valley. Before its construction, locals walked five hours to cross this river gorge.

healthy life
Eating is one the most important events in everyone’s life. We enjoy eating - it’s part of who we are and part of our culture; in fact, eating is the hottest universal topic of all times. We depend on eating: the foods we eat are the sole source of our energy and nutrition. We know so much about eating: we are born with the desire to eat and grown up with rich traditions of eating. But we also know so little about eating - about how the foods we eat everyday affect our health. We are more confused than ever about the link between diet and health: margarine is healthier than butter or not; a little alcohol will keep heart attacks at bay but cause breast cancer; dietary vitamin antioxidants can prevent lung cancer or can not. Eating is a paradox and a mystery that our ancestors tried and modern scientists are trying to solve.Based on experiences and traditions, our ancestors have used foods and plant materials to treat various kinds of illness. Manuscripts discovered from a tomb (dated 168 B.C.) in China described prescriptions for 52 ailments with herbs, grains, legumes, vegetables, animal parts, and minerals. Ancient Sumerians recorded the use of 250 medicinal plants on tablets five thousand years ago. Today, plant and food remedies are still the major medicinal source for 80% of the world’s population.
The pharmacological roles of everyday foods have long been neglected by modern medicine due to lack of proven scientific validity. The main focus of modern medicine has been on pharmaceuticals. With the invention of modern chemotherapy by Paul Erhlich in the early twentieth century and sulfa drugs and antibiotics in the 1930’s and 1940’s, it seemed as if chemical medicines would take care of all our ills. However, while there continues to be great strides made in the understanding and use of pharmaceuticals, there is also widespread dissatisfaction with both them and the system of medicine that utilizes them. This dissatisfaction is centered around the feeling that they are too disease-oriented, and perhaps too limited by their precision to cope effectively with the subtle factors and interrelationships that compromise human health and disease. The precise and pure nature of modern biomedical pharmaceuticals also tends to increase their side effects. In addition, with the victory over many common infectious diseases, more people are concerned with chronic degenerative processes and with prevention of disease. The increasing concerns have started a new movement in medical research. More and more mainstream scientists are reaching back to the truth of ancient food folk medicines and dietary practices for clues to remedies and antidotes to our modern diseases.
Research on pharmacological effects of foods is fast-paced and the results are exciting. The mystery of what foods can do for or to us has started to unveil. In order to effectively use foods for our health benefits, the following issues need to be considered:

Research on pharmacological effects of foods is fast-paced and the results are exciting. The mystery of what foods can do for or to us has started to unveil. In order to effectively use foods for our health benefits, the following issues need to be considered:
- Keep up with the most recent scientific findings and make use of them for our health benefits.
- Try to use variety of whole foods as much as possible instead of isolated dietary supplements for your health problems - they are safer, cheaper, and usually more effective since they can provide multiple and balanced disease fighting capabilities
- Choice of foods is important: since healing power of a food is depending on the content of pharmacologically active constituents that differ among foods, and certain foods may need to be avoided due to their disease encouraging activities
- How do you prepare and eat your foods can affect their pharmacological effects
- Concerns about multiple health conditions: foods that benefit one health condition may be harmful to others
- Overall nutritional values of foods

Reduce Stress At Work
Work can be a stressful place, wherever you earn your living, whether in an office, a factory, or a school. Some stress is good. It motivates us and makes us stronger. Too much stress is bad. It makes us irrational and it can, quite literally, kill us. Fortunately, there are specific things you can do that will help you reduce your stress at work and better cope with it.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: Varies
Here's How:
- Improve your time management and organization skills.Of the many things you can to in this area the best ones include getting a to do list that works, learning to say "no", asking for help when you need it, and stop setting unrealistic goals for yourself.
- Relax and breathe deeply.Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by the amount or work you have to do or if someone is "in your face", a good thing to do is to "breathe through your nose". You can't get as worked up if you force yourself to breathe through your nose. Your body simply can't maintain the same level of energy without that extra oxygen you get when breathing through your mouth.
- Take more breaks from your work.Even a five-minute break will help. Get away from your desk. Go for a walk - outside is better, but up two flights of stairs and back down is good too. Getting more exercise in general will help you reduce your overall stress levels and that will make it easier to reduce your stress level at work.
- Lighten up.Smile more. We all know laughter reduces stress. You will be amazed at how much more pleasant the people around you are when you make an effort to be pleasant yourself.
- Learn to listen better.Rather than getting upset when others disagree with you, listen actively and find the areas of agreement. Be assertive and stand up for yourself, but don't be rigid.
- Fix your environment.Make whatever adjustments you need to the lighting, temperature, noise level, and other controllable factors in your office.
- Don't sweat the small stuff.Realize that there are some things that just aren't worth worrying about and there are some things you just can't change. Don't waste time stressing over the things in either category.
- Get more sleep. This is another of the things you can do to reduce your overall stress that will have benefits at the office as well. In addition to reducing your stress, it will increase your energy level and your ability to concentrate.
- Find a mentorIf not a mentor, a friend will do. Having someone to talk to can take a lot of stress off you.
- Spend more time with optimistic people.Negative people will pull you down to their level. Choose to work with people who have a positive attitude instead.
Social Media in Marketing
What the heck is social media and what role does it play in my marketing? This is probably a question I wouldn't have received two years ago, but yet today it's the most common question that enters my inbox.First off, let's talk about what social media is. Social media represents low-cost tools that are used to combine technology and social interaction with the use of words. These tools are typically internet or mobile based. A few that you have probably heard of include Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and YouTube.
Social media gives marketers a voice and a way to communicate with peers, customers and potential consumers. It personalizes the "brand" and helps you to spread your message in a relaxed and conversational way.
The downfall to social media, if you could call it that is that it must be a part of your everyday life in order to keep the momentum and attention you need for it to be successful.
If you think that social media is only for the small business owners that are trying out an experiment, I have to correct you. Here are just a few companies that have become involved in social media
