Car accident Killed 6 Teenagers and several others injured

Monday, February 27, 2006
Six teenagers were killed in a horrific road accident near Mildura in north-western Victoria, Australia late at night on February 18.
Cassandra Manners, aged 16, Stevie-Lee Weight, 15, Cory Dowling, 16, Shane Hirst, 16, and his sister, Abby Hirst, 17, died at the scene. Josephine Calvi, 16, was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she later died of head injuries. Seven other teenagers were injured, including 15-year-old Marco Medici who is now in a stable but critical condition in The Alfred Hospital in w:Melbourne.
The accident occurred after the teenagers left a 16th birthday party and walked along Myall Road, Cardross, south-east of Mildura. A car allegedly came speeding around a bend, hit the gravel on the side of the road, lost control and struck the group. The alleged driver, later identified as 34-year-old Thomas Graham Towle, fled the scene on foot, leaving his 10-year-old daughter and four-year-old son in the car. Towle was later arrested by police in Redcliffs. He was taken to Mildura police station for questioning.
Towle has been charged with six charges of culpable driving causing death, four charges of negligently causing serious injury, one charge of failing to stop and one charge of failing to render assistance after an accident. Towle faced Mildura Magistrates' Court on February 20. Magistrate John Dugdale remanded him into custody to reappear before the court on June 26.
Meanwhile, the town of Mildura and surrounding areas is in deep mourning. Premier Steve Bracks said the State Government will provide $AU40,000 for counselling and support services.
Around 3,000 people attended the funeral for Josephine Calvi today. Funeral services for the other five teenagers were held last week.

Get Insurance now.

If you are a young driver or if you are a parent trying to help your child find good auto insurance, then you know how expensive it can be. Younger drivers are statistically more likely to be involved in a collision especially young male drivers who, generally speaking, tend to be more reckless and aggressive. Insurance companies are in business to make money and because the data shows that younger drivers are more of a financial risk, the insurance companies are going to charge higher premium prices. This article is going to give you some money-saving tips by telling you about some discounts that you could get and by telling you how to find the best possible price when shopping for car insurance for young people.
Every insurance company will offer certain discounts for different things. Not all insurance companies are the same but it is certainly worth asking your insurance agent about any possible discounts. If a young driver is on the same insurance policy as their parents and their parents have a clean driving record and low rates it will be cheaper than a young driver getting their own policy. If you are a student and you maintain a good grade point average many insurance companies will offer discounts on your car insurance. The reasoning behind this is that they assume that a student that gets good grades is more responsible and therefore less likely to cause an accident. It's also possible to get discounts with some companies if you complete a certified driving instruction course. If you can show proof that you've completed a course which teaches you to drive safely and defensively, it could save you some money. A lot of companies will also offer lower rates to people who do not do very much driving. The cut off may vary from one company to another but it if you tell your insurance company that you will drive less than a certain amount then you would also be less at risk of being involved in a collision and therefore entitled to lower premiums.
When trying to find the most affordable price on car insurance for young people it's important to shop around. The cheapest company for one person is not necessarily the cheapest company for someone else. Each company has their own criteria that they use and certain demographics that they are trying to target. The best way to get an idea of what you may have to pay for insurance and also make sure that you're getting the best possible price is to go online and get multiple insurance quotes from a number of different providers. There are many websites available where you can enter some information and answer a few questions and with the click of a button get multiple quotes without having to visit multiple websites. It's quick and painless to get a number of quotes all from one website and this allows you to easily find a company that offers the coverage you are looking for at the most affordable price.

The Best Football Player

Cristiano Ronaldo is an aggressive attacking player who always sets his sights on scoring goals for his team. At so young an age, Cristiano Ronaldo has become an icon on the lines of his idol the legendary Maradona. The way he maneuvers the ball from his opponents and passes it to his teammates is just fascinating to watch. His aggressive run on the field and his inimitable style of scoring goals is simply breathtaking and delightful to watch. He has scored plenty of goals for Manchester United and has won several trophies - some twelve plus - for his amazing personal feats on the field. Besides his personal achievements he has helped his teammates to flourish alongside him. A constant trainer, Cristiano Ronaldo has shown keen interest in perfecting his football skills and has always concentrated in learning the new tricks in the trade. He is indeed “a joy to watch”. Said his teammate at United Manchester, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But Cristiano Ronaldo gives all credit to Sir Alex Ferguson for nurturing him up to this stage. Cristiano Ronaldo says that Sir Alex Ferguson is like his mother or father, who constantly shouts and keeps him on toes always throwing challenges at him and further allowing him to win the said challenge. It was this dedication and love of challenges that has made Cristiano Ronaldo undoubtedly the best Football player in the world.

Alcohol found on Fla. boat that crashed, killing 5

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Alcohol was found on the power boat that plowed into a tug boat and barge in north Florida, killing five people and injuring nine others, investigators said Tuesday.
Capt. Gregg Eason of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission verified alcohol was aboard the 22-foot boat. But Eason, speaking at a news conference Tuesday afternoon, wouldn't say what kind of alcohol was found or whether the vessel's operator had been drinking. Toxicology reports are still pending.
"We don't know who was drinking and who was not drinking," Eason said.
The boat smashed into the rear of the docked 25-foot tug Sunday in the Intracoastal Waterway near Palm Valley, about 25 miles southeast of Jacksonville. No one was aboard the tug.
On Tuesday, the power boat was being removed to a secure location so it can be examined for evidence, Eason said. Severe weather prevented investigators from working outside any sooner.
Authorities are still trying to determine how fast the boat was going, why 14 people were aboard and whether the passengers wore life vests.
"What we want to do is reconstruct the accident. What occurred prior to the accident. What occurred during the accident," Eason said.
He noted the barge and tug boat being used to build a pier at a new home were properly moored and were not obstructing the channel.
Witnesses, including some of those still recovering in hospitals, will be interviewed once doctors clear them to speak, said Debbie Hersman, an investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board.
The five killed all died at the scene. They were Jacqueline R. Allen, 44, of Jacksonville; Robert Trenton Craig, 23, of Jacksonville Beach; Elizabeth L. Rosenfeld, 20, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; Inmaculada Pierce, 42, of Orange Park, Fla.; and Olivia Rose Carretero, 23, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Investigators said it could take up to a year to complete their investigation.
